Chronicles of the Alphabet - first demo

The art of pre-rendered graphics for backgrounds in games while making use of Art Nouveau style (mostly common in late 90s and early 2000s RPGs) is something that always amazed me. It is easy to get myself lost while admiring backgrounds of the genre.

Chronicles of the Alphabet, the game I am introducing, is a JRPG game that makes use of such art choice that attracts me that much.

It is easy to see, however, products that made use of the technique that did not age well, like the popular Final Fantasy VII (1997). While other games that used what today is pixel art, released in that same year, such as Castlevania Symphony of the Night, aged so well that people doesn't consider the possibility of a game like this getting a remake... actually, it turned into a role model in visuals for games even nowadays.

But there is a JRPG, released for this same console, that today you can say it has a very unique "charm".

Digimon World 3 uses in map 2D sprite characters and pre-rendered backgrounds always in an isometric angle. This combination makes it harder for the game to turn unanimously "ugly" as it ages (on the contrary of the in map 3D modeled characters that Final Fantasy VII and VIII makes use). It does use 3D models for battles however; in that part... yes, it aged.

Also Valkirye Profile, another of my inspirations... not isometric this time, but a side-scroller turn-based JRPG with pre-rendered backgrounds and sprite characters. Again, aged pretty well, even in battles this time; since it uses big 2D colorful sprites in a side-by-side angle.

I'm giving this JRPG I'm working on, based in this "32bit style", the characteristics I believe suits the best for the type of game I am aiming, alongside with the story I already wanted to tell in a RPG.

Thank you very much for the attention.
